Manna Life
Helen and Robin, along with another couple, are now involved in a church plant project initated by their church, Christchurch, Cottingham called Manna Life. This will be run from Manna Coffee shop in Cottingham under the auspices of Christchurch. It's purpose is to be a safe and accessible place for those exploring Christianity and making their first tentative steps in faith. We will be doing church in a rather different to way to the accepted norm. It is an exciting project and one in which we expect to see God doing some amazing things.
As a result, both Robin and Helen have stepped down from leading worship at Christchurch in order to make time to give Manna Life the focus it needs. However, this does not impact Living Hope and we are continuing to take, and indeed have already taken a number of bookings for the duo. (13/03/08).
Manna Music Nights
Locust Music are arranging regular monthly music nights at Manna Coffee in Cottingham. The focus is on entertainment rather than evangelism and is part of the overall ministry of Manna in Cottingham. Three events have already been arranged and are listed in the events' diary. (13/03/08)
Hope 08
Living Hope recently played at the launch event for Hope 08 in the Hull area. It is estimated that around 350-400 people attended the event, representing a broad cross section of churches in the locality. Three songs were written especially for it, including a song about Hull, "This Town".
The event was very successful in bringing the Hope 08 concept to the churches in the area and we hope that through 2008, we will see an increase in social action as a result. The churches in Cottingham have already beenn involved in a Cottingham clean-up day and there is a lot more planned for the coming year.
